All Apple-branded products automatically come with a one-year warranty against hardware failures and manufacturer defects. However, it is also possible to extend the warranty by purchasing an AppleCare agreement. Whether you have the limited warranty or the extended version, you can perform an Apple warranty check by navigating to Apple’s Check Coverage page.
How to Find Your Device’s Serial Number
In order to initiate an Apple warranty check of your device, you need to locate its serial number.
On a Mac:
1. Click the Apple icon at the upper-left corner of the screen.
2. Click About This Mac from the drop-down menu.
3. Select the Overview tab to view your device’s serial number. The number is the last item on the list.
On an iOS device:
1. Tap the Settings app from the Home screen.
2. Scroll down the list of options and select General.
3. Select the About option.
4. Scroll down the list of details until you see Serial Number. The number is on the left side.
How to Perform an Apple Warranty Check
After you have acquired the serial number of your device, you can check its warranty status on Apple’s website.
1. Open a new browser window, and navigate to the Check Coverage page.
2. Enter your Apple device’s serial number into the Enter Your Hardware Serial Number text box.
3. Enter the code in the CAPTCHA box.
4. Click the Continue button to open the Your Service and Support Coverage page for your device.
The Repairs and Service Coverage section of the page displays your device’s warranty status and estimated expiration date. If you have any problems accessing the Check Coverage page, finding your device’s serial number or performing an Apple warranty check, you can contact Apple support for assistance. In addition, you can get your device repaired by clicking the Set Up Repair link on the Service and Support Coverage page to schedule a repair appointment.
