Like many people these days, you probably own a tablet computer. If your tablet is an iPad, over time, you may want to clear out some space on the device and take it a few steps further and clear history as well. This is also handy for refreshing it. There are a few different areas from which you can clear an iPad’s history. If you are sharing the slate with others, such as your child, for instance, it can ensure that your web browsing habits remain hidden from them. Here is how to clear history on iPad.

How to Clear History on iPad In Safari

Step 1: On the iPad’s built-in Safari browser, it’s easy to clear the history of your web browsing. Open the Settings app.
Step 2: Scroll down and then tap on Safari.
Step 3: Scroll all the way down the page and press on the “Clear History and Website Data” option. This will then effectively delete your web browsing history within the Safari app on your iPad. A prompt will appear that provides the option to “Clear” or “Cancel.” The action cannot be undone, but to if you want to clear your history, you must select “Clear.”
Step 4: There is also the option of deleting cookies from websites you browsed on your iPad. Tap on the “Clear Cookies and Data” button, which is located directly under the “Clear History” button. Again, you will be prompted to confirm that you want to perform this action.
Step 5: You have the option of surfing the web privately in the future on iPad as well. This is a good option if you regularly delete your browsing history. It allows you to browse using private windows. Safari will not log your web history when you use this option. To browse privately, click on the plus sign icon in Safari’s toolbar to open a new tab. Go to the bottom of that and then press the “Private” button. You will then be prompted on whether you want to keep existing tabs open.

How to Clear History on iPad In Chrome

Step 1: Open your Chrome browser app. You cannot clear history for this browser on your iPad through Settings as it is not a built-in app.
Step 2: Tap on the Menu button, which is situated in the top right-hand corner of the screen, and choose “Settings.”
Step 3: Go to the Advanced section and tap on the “Privacy” button.
Step 4: Tap on the “Clear Browsing History” option. This will clear all of your history in the Chrome app on your iPad. A prompt will appear that asks you to either “Clear” or “Cancel.”
Step 5: Delete all of your other browsing history, including cache, site data and cookies, by tapping on “Clear All.”
Step 6: If you wish to browse privately while on Chrome in your iPad in the future, use an incognito window by tapping on the Menu button and choosing “New Incognito Tab.” Your iPad will not save any of your browsing history.
