PNG and JPG are two of the most common graphics format extensions used on the Internet. PNGs tend to be used for lower-resolution images, while JPGs are best for higher resolution pics. Because of lack of compression, PNGs tend to be larger, so sometimes it’s a good idea to convert images from one file type to another. In this article, you’ll find out how to convert from PNG to JPG.
How to Convert a PNG to JPG on a PC
The simplest way to convert from PNG to JPG is using Windows Paint.
Locate the PNG you wish you to convert to JPG in the Explorer.
Right click on the image and choose Edit.
This should open the PNG in Paint. If this doesn’t work for some reason, you can simply find and open Paint on your computer and then open the PNG with paint.
Click on the menu and highlight the Save As option.
On the right, you’ll find a list of options for different formats. Choose Save as JPG. The process might vary slightly in different versions of Windows, but the idea is the same. Go to Save As and then save as a JPG.
How to Convert a PNG to JPG on a Mac
The process for converting from PNG to JPG is very similar on a Mac.
Go to Preview.
Choose and open the PNG you wish to convert.
Once the image is open, go to the drop-down menu and choose Export.
Choose JPG from the list of options.
You will be prompted for a new name and location. Type in a new name or use the same name for the JPG.
There are also many websites that allow you to convert from one image format to another, but using Paint or Preview is quicker and safer. Using Paint also allows you to quickly convert between formats other than JPGs and PNGs.
