How to Turn Off Subtitles on Netflix on a Computer

The steps below describe the process of disabling subtitles when watching Netflix on a computer browser.

Step 1: Go to the Netflix homepage in your web browser.
Step 2: Select a movie or TV episode, and click the “Play” button.
Step 3: Move your mouse as the content plays to pull up the on-screen options.
Step 4: Click the “Dialog” button illustrated by the bubble icon.
Step 5: Choose the “Off” option to disable subtitles.

How to Turn Off Subtitles on Netflix on a Smart TV

Use the steps below to disable subtitles when watching Netflix on a Smart TV. They also apply to cable boxes and DVD players that support the Netflix application.

Step 1: Open the Netflix application on your Smart TV or other device.
Step 2: Use your remote to select a movie or TV episode.
Step 3: Click the “Audio & Subtitles” button from the “Options” panel.
Step 4: Choose the “Off” option to disable subtitles.
Step 5: Click the “Back” button to return to the details of the selected content.
